WOW! Did we ever
have the Power of Lord filling Grace this past week
at
Vacation Bible School! It is
amazing to see SO many people in different stages in life
working together so that God’s kingdom can grow and be
glorified! Almost ninety kids were here every night.
I can’t thank everyone enough for making my job as VBS
director so easy! We couldn’t have done it without
all of the prayers and financial support! Our God is
a powerful God… ask me for more details! ~

Water needed for our float!!
Our
goal this year is to give away 1500 bottles of water from
the Grace float for the Corn Festival. Please bring
your water donations to the church and place them under
"the table" in the foyer. See Dan Pinkham if you'd like him
to pick up the water for you! We will also be accepting
candy donations. See Colleen for a list of other donations
needed. We will begin putting together the float Thursday
the 21st at the Pfister's building. See Colleen if
questions on any of this.
Only 2 more practices left for
“I Am a Promise!”
We
will shorten our last 2 practices to 1 hour for
August 25th and Sept. 1. They will be from
6:30-7:30. Please be a little early so we can get
started right at 6:30. Practice, practice,
practice! Be sure you know all the words to all the
songs. Puppeteers, be very familiar with your
speaking parts. The solos sound great!!! We
will have a dress rehearsal at the park at 5:30 Wednesday,
Sept. 3. We are performing right after the mini
king and queen contest, which begins at 6:00 on
Thursday of Corn Festival. Please pray for our
musical.
Bill Walden has started
new Adult Sunday school class -
"Landmines in
The Path of The Believer".
In
5 weeks time, the following landmines will
covered--
1. Pride
2. Jealousy
3. Envy
4. Insecurity
5. Compromise
6. Unforgiveness
7. Disappointment
8. Fear
9. Immorality
The
Grace Choir
will
be starting their season September 10th. I am
excited to get started practicing and performing all
the great songs we have! This year the choir will
perform a dramatized musical at our Christmas Eve
service. We will also do a moving musical during
Dinner Theater in March. If you enjoy singing to the
Lord, please join us! Choir is open to anyone
high school or older. We will practice Wednesday
nights. We have not finalized the time, but we will
probably begin at 6:00. Child supervision will be
provided at the church.
Want
to join choir.....
but
don't have a babysitter? We are in the process of
getting several girls to help us! Each week the choir
will take an offering for the girls who are watching the
little ones that week. So bring your kids and join
the choir!
Renee
is looking for 5th grade girls and
up
who
would be available to watch children during choir practice
for the adults on Wednesday nights. We need you 15
minutes before choir until 15 minutes after. The pay
won't be great, but the benefits for everyone will be
wonderful! See Renee if you are available September
10th until mid-April. We can work around a few
conflicts. I'm looking for kids willing to plan
an activity for 3-7 year olds and/or willing to rock,
change and play with babies and
toddlers.
Grace's
Baby Changing Station
Grace
will again have a Baby Changing Station during the Corn
Festival. The location this year will be at Kipp's
home across the street from the park. Actually baby
changing will happen in a tent in his front yard and "potty
facilities" inside his house. Needed are volunteers
for helping with this worthy project including smiling
faces to greet people. Donations of toilet paper and
paper towels are needed. Please see Linda after
church church to sign up or clip board is on table in
foyer.

year. I need people who are willing to 'act' in
our puppet show, people willing to help with activities,
and people willing to put on a simple lunch for around 50
kids. The puppets will put on "A Cowboy Christmas"
again this year. We will work on staging and props

News
from Delores
Dear
family and friends!
Greetings!
Amazed with how time flies, as of the 17th of August, I
will be celebrating my 3rd month anniversary of being
married! Where did the time go? Wow!!
My days have been spent painting, cleaning, sorting,
laundry, cooking and writing 'thank yous' to so many that
have blessed Robert and I with gifts for our wedding. And
in the midst of settling here at home, we had a sad day, as
we needed to close our Portsmouth bookstore. We had the
business to pay for everything but it's rent and it was
draining our Newport News store. So more packing and moving
of boxes and fixtures. I'm looking forward to the day when
we are settled!!
Identity - who am I? This is one of my messages that I,
along with Bob and Vicki, have been teaching and
ministering to people over the last several years. And now
here I find myself asking that question. Millions of people
get married every day. It's a normal thing to do. When two
people's lives come together to make one, how do we learn
to function as one and where does our individuality lay.
Over the last few months, I had to come to the realization
of the fact that I changed my name, my address, my friends,
my church, my ministry and ministry partner....
everything!! I knew enough to ask myself - who am I
and receive God's grace in this time of transition. Plus,
Robert has been a huge blessing during this time,
especially when there are tears that come. We are both
enjoying being married and looking forward to the future in
what God has for us!
Prayer Requests:
1.)
Grace as I walk through these next few months in a whole
new life...new name, new home, renovating our bathroom,
unpacking and settling, making new friends, keeping in
touch with old friends, etc.
2.)
The direction of my ministry with YWAM and now with my new
husband.
3.)
My parents health. Things are settling down some with them
since the wedding is over.
4.)
Jewish Prayer guide that I have been working
on.
Blessings,

A
Word From Pastor Dan
In
Cincinnati there is a church building with these words
engraved in stone above the entrance: “Small things done
with great love will change the world.” This church spends
16% of their budget each year on helping those outside
their church. They invest in the poor and hurting. They
help everyday people with common problems. Activities
include divorce recovery groups, handing out Cokes to
people waiting in line to buy tickets at the Reds game,
washing cars for free, throwing inner city block parties
and cleaning the toilets of the local bar. They are giving
a cup of water in the name of Jesus! (Mark
9:41)
In just a few weeks the city of El Paso gives us a
tremendous opportunity to spread the love of Jesus in a
practical way. It’s called the Corn Festival. I’ve never
been to El Paso’s Corn Festival, but have been to
others. I can tell you that lots of families will be there.
Lots of great food will be there. And lots of opportunities
for serving in the name of Jesus will be
there!
Grace Fellowship is organizing a place for moms and dads to
change their babies’ diapers and get out of the heat. We
have a great group of kids giving a musical and puppet
presentation. And our float in the parade provides an
opportunity to literally give a bottle of water in the name
of Jesus. We will also be wearing matching t-shirts as a
way of saying to our community that we are here to
serve!
The next two Sundays we will be talking about how to
maximize our impact through serving others. Understand,
serving others and sharing the love of Christ is not an
optional activity for the Christian. It is central to the
core of being a disciple of Jesus. One of the reasons Jesus
came to earth was to serve others. (Matt. 20:28) No one can
call himself a follower of Christ who refuses to do what
Jesus does. Jesus wants to work through us to reach people
for him. All He needs is willing hearts and
feet.
We need to see ourselves as co-laborers with Christ in
ministry! We must understand that evangelism is an
essential part of being a disciple! It keeps us from
becoming self-centered and cliquish, from bickering amongst
ourselves, from becoming “sit & soak” Christians, and
moves us to become God’s army!
Let’s make the most of every opportunity to share the love
of Christ in a practical way! Let’s do so with an attitude
of humility and service. Let’s “do it all in the name of
the Lord Jesus” (Col 3:17) so that He gets all the glory.
And let’s do small things with great love and change our
world!

B.I.B.L.E.
A
father was approached by his small son who told him
proudly, "I know what the Bible
means!"
His father smiled and replied, "What do you mean, you
'know' what the Bible means?"
The son replied, "I do know!"
"Okay," said his father. "What does the Bible
mean?"
"That's easy, Daddy." the young boy replied excitedly, "It
stands for 'Basic Information Before Leaving
Earth.'"
God’s
Garden
It's
been said that God first separated the salt water from the
fresh, made dry land, planted a garden, made animals and
fish... all before making a human. He made and provided
what we'd need before we were born. These are best &
more powerful when eaten raw. We're such slow
learners...
God left us a great clue as to what foods help what part of
our body!
God's
Pharmacy! Amazing!
A
sliced Carrot looks like the human eye. The pupil, iris and
radiating lines look just like the human eye... and YES,
science now shows carrots greatly enhance blood flow to and
function of the eyes.
A
Tomato has four chambers and is red. The heart has four
chambers and is red. All of the research shows tomatoes are
loaded with lycopine and are indeed pure heart and blood
food.
Grapes
hang in a cluster that has the shape of the heart. Each
grape looks like a blood cell and all of the research today
shows grapes are also profound heart and blood vitalizing
food.
A
Walnut looks like a little brain, a left and right
hemisphere, upper cerebrums and lower cerebellums.
Even the wrinkles or folds on the nut are just like
the neo-cortex. We now know walnuts help develop more than
three (3) dozen neuron-transmitters for brain
function.
Kidney
Beans actually heal and help maintain kidney function and
yes, they look exactly like the human
kidneys.
Celery,
Bok Choy, Rhubarb and many more look just like bones. These
foods specifically target bone strength. Bones are 23%
sodium and these foods are 23% sodium. If you don't have
enough sodium in your diet, the body pulls it from the
bones, thus making them weak. These foods replenish the
skeletal needs of the body.
Avocados,
Eggplant and Pears target the health and function of the
womb and cervix of the female - they look just like these
organs. Today's research shows that when a woman eats one
avocado a week, it balances hormones, sheds unwanted birth
weight, and prevents cervical cancers. And how profound is
this? It takes exactly nine (9) months to grow an
avocado from blossom to ripened fruit. There are over
14,000 photolytic chemical constituents of nutrition in
each one of these foods (modern science has only studied
and named about 141 of them).
Figs
are full of seeds and hang in twos when they grow. Figs
increase the mobility of male sperm and increase the
numbers of sperm as well to overcome male
sterility.
Sweet
Potatoes look like the pancreas and actually balance the
glycemic index of diabetics.
Olives
assist the health and function of the
ovaries
Oranges,
Grapefruits, and other Citrus fruits look just like the
mammary glands of the female and actually assist the health
of the breasts and the movement of lymph in and out of the
breasts.
Onions
look like the body's cells. Today's research shows onions
help clear waste materials from all of the body cells. They
even produce tears which wash the epithelial layers of the
eyes. A working companion, Garlic, also helps eliminate
waste materials and dangerous free radicals from the
body.
